Oil & Gas Industry - Examples

Example 1 – Oil Tanker
To provide effective Man Overboard cover for an oil tanker we recommend the following configuration of Sea Marshall® equipment:

  • Fitted to the tanker: Option A: SARfinder®1003 MKII MOB locator unit
    Option B: Crewguard Man Overboard Alarm with a high gain external antenna

  • Worn by each of the deck crew an intrinsically safe level 1 or ATEX approved Man Overboard Alerting Unit (preferably fitted into a lifejacket).

  • Fitted to the Fast Rescue Craft and each support vessel a SARfinder® MKII Man Overboard Locating Unit.

  • Worn by each of the Fast Rescue Craft crew, an intrinsically safe level 1 or ATEX approved, Man Overboard Alerting Unit (preferably fitted into a lifejacket).


 
Example 2 – Oil Rig/Platform
To provide effective Man Overboard cover for an oil rig/platform we recommend the following configuration of Sea Marshall® equipment:

  • Fitted to the rig/platform, 1 Crewguard Man Overboard Alarm with a high gain external antenna.

  • Worn by each of the deck crew an intrinsically safe level 1 or ATEX approved, Man Overboard Alerting Unit (preferably fitted into a lifejacket).

  • Fitted to the Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) and each support vessel a SARfinder® MKII Man Overboard Locating Unit.

  • Worn by each of the Fast Rescue Craft crew, 1(intrinsically safe level 1 or ATEX approved) Man Overboard Alerting Unit (preferably fitted into a lifejacket).

 
Example 3 – Geo-Survey Vessel
To provide effective Man Overboard cover for a geo-survey vessel we recommend the following configuration of Sea Marshall® equipment:

  • Fitted to the vessel: Option A: SARfinder®1003 MKII MOB locator unit
    Option B: Crewguard Man Overboard Alarm with a high gain external antenna

  • Worn by each of the deck crew an intrinsically safe level 1 or ATEX approved, Man Overboard Alerting Unit (preferably fitted into a lifejacket).

  • Fitted to the Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) and each support vessel a SARfinder® MKII Man Overboard Locating Unit.

  • Worn by each of the Fast Rescue Craft crew an intrinsically safe level 1 or ATEX approved, Man Overboard Alerting Unit (preferably fitted into a lifejacket).


 
Example 4 – Wharf & Jetty Safety
To provide effective Man Overboard cover for a wharf or jetty we recommend the following configuration of Sea Marshall® equipment:

  • Install a base unit (or multiple units) with an integrated modem for automatic voice announcement and alert to Rescue Centre or Guard house

  • Worn by each of the workers, an intrinsically safe level 1 or ATEX approved, Man Overboard Alerting Unit

  • Fitted to the Fast Rescue Craft and each support vessel a SARfinder® MKII Man Overboard Locating Unit

  • Worn by each of the Fast Rescue Craft crew an intrinsically safe level 1 or ATEX approved, Man Overboard Alerting Unit (preferably fitted into a lifejacket).

  • Recommend a propagation test to ensure 100% coverage of jetty/wharf

 
Example 5 – Helicopter Transit
To provide effective Man Overboard cover for crews in helicopter transit we recommend the following configuration of Sea Marshall® equipment:

  • Each crewmember is issued with an ATEX approved Man Overboard Alerting unit before entering the aircraft. The Alerting Unit could be fitted into a life vest.
